Tutorial: Create a spectacular SF looking wallpaper
In this tutorial we are going to create the mosaic background and a cool radioactive looking text, combine this two elements and you will get an amazing desktop wallpaper.

Creating the background
1. Create a new document and fill the background layer with black. Press the D key on your keyboard to ensure that the default foreground (black) and background (white) colors are being used.

2. Press Alt + F9 this will bring up the Actions Palette, at the buttom of the palette it should be a Create new action button, click it. Name the action as you want and press Record.
3. You are now recording the actions you make in Photoshop, duplicate the current layer and change the blending mode of the new layer to Screen.

4. Create a Clouds filter (Filter-> Render-> Clouds).
5. Add a Mosaic filter (Filter-> Pixelate-> Mosaic) set the cell size to: 50 squares.
6. Apply a Reticulation filter (Filter-> Sketch-> Reticulation) with the following properties:

7. At this point you have to stop the recording from the Actions Palette.
8. Now all you have to do to is select your created action and press play somewhere about 8-10 times … until the screen is fully covered with squares.
9. Merge all the layeres except the background layer.
10. Add a Photocopy filter (Filter-> Sketch-> Photocopy) with the following values:
Detail: 24
Darkness: 1
Colorize: Checked
Hue: -95
Saturation: -30
Lightness: 0
… IT’S TIME FOR THE TEXT RADIOACTIVE EFFECT

to athur i get the same thing with you but i don check the colorize and i setting the hue and sat until the result same with the tut
Thanks I’ll do my best … I’m not really that good in writing tuts but I’m getting there
@benny and @arthur yep your both right … I don’t know how I missed that … the trouble is you have to check colorize and move the Hue cursor until you get the desired color … I dont have the exact numbers … hope that won’t be a problem
Hi Mr. Bogdan
well i follow all steps but my background is not same as you, i repeat 3 times this tutorial and the results is the same
What seems to be the problem? Maybe I can help you with it
thanks, well the problem is with the text since de step 1:
1. Write your text. Use this color: #9ffd60
my result is too transparent
//BP edit: make sure you complete all steps
well you have to complete all of the steps
I complete all of them but my result y not the same as you
Upload your result somewhere and then post it here … maybe I could give you some pointers
Uh, its Hue 29 and Saturation 30 if you want the same colours as him
Hi again, well i upload mi image result the link is:
http://imageupper.com/gi/?galID=S0600010101B2587374831414366&n=1&m=1
i follow all the steps, but i have one more problem with the step 12 of the background section, my hue/saturation tool no acept negative values if the Colorize box is check.
thanks for all, i’ll be in touch
Hello,
I am grateful of Boo he checked out what was the problem.
So use: Hue 29 and Saturation 30
Reminder: Use Gravatar
and read the comments above yours
thanks for the solution, i change the hue/saturation and the result is similar, i think that must play with text color and brush. Thanks a lot
Hey there, can I know the font you used in this tutorial, and where to download it? Thanks.
well … sorry but this tut doesn’t have the PSD file and the font is Arial Black
Thank you!
Please can you make a video of this because ive follow the instuctions to the word and mine has turned out nothing like the specifyed result, like how do you make that text? the descriptiong you give to make the text doesnt help at all :O, please help me out
this is really anoying, i cant get the text write, im following the instructions word for word and its not turning out the same as yours…. =/ please can you help me
ok … I think that the first 3 steps are clear enough …. when you reach step 4 …. create a layer, change it’s blending mode ti SCREEN, move it right under the text layer, take a large round brush (the size of the brush should be a bit bigger then a letter) and then apply the brush in the zone with the text… a few clicks should cover the full text
This was a sweet tut for me to work on! I did change and add some effects to it as well.
Well here are my results! Thanks again for this! ^_^
